Biographies for 2008 Featured Speakers

 

Bill Helm, A.B.T., B.S.,T.S.

Bill Helm has studied martial and healing arts from Asia for over 30 years. He  is founding faculty at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, the director of the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego and a graduate of San Diego State University. Bill is an AOBTA certified instructor and the senior instructor of Asian Bodywork at Mueller college of Massage.

Tuina medical massage, Qi Gong health exercises, Tai Chi Chuan, Chinese herbal medicine and Taoist philosophy are his main areas of expertise.

Bill Helm has also presented workshops and seminars at a variety of national and international events including; Pacific Symposium, American Massage Therapy Association national and regional conventions, American Organization of Asian Bodywork Therapy national and regional conventions,
Pan Asian Political Action Committee, Native American Wellness Convention and the Army War College.

Bill, an ordained Taoist Priest, has been studying Chinese martial and healing arts since 1965. He specializes in Taijiquan, Tuina Chinese Bodywork, Qi Gong and Herbal Medicine. Bill has also studied with Taijiquan Master Chen Xiaoxing, Master Chen Bing, and Master Ren Guangyi. Bill travels periodically to Chen Village for focused practice of Chen Style Taijiquan. He studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in China at the Shanghai College of Medicine and the Beijing Olympic Training Center, and in the United States with Taoist Master Share K. Lew and Dr. Yu Da Fang. Bill is the Director of the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego, the Dean of Allied Arts at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and Director of the Asian Bodywork Program at Mueller College. Bill is the senior instructor for all classes at the Taoist Sanctuary.
