Biographies for 2010 Featured Speakers

 

Jeffrey Yuen

Jeffrey C. Yuen comes from two Daoist lineages – the Complete Reality & Jade Purity traditions. Mr. Yuen trained at an early age under his grandfather Daoist Master Yu Wen, in all aspects of Daoism including Chinese Medicine. Mr. Yuen was the first recipient of the “Educator of the Year” Award conferred by the AAOM. He serves as Academic Dean for the Swedish Institute’s School of Acupuncture & Oriental Studies and President of the International Tai Chi Institute, both in New York City. He travels frequently to teach nationally and abroad.

 

Mr. Yuen apprenticed for more than 20 years in Classical Chinese Medicine and other Taoist Healing Arts with Master Taoist Priest and Physician, Yu Wen, who transmitted his lineage to Mr. Yuen before the former's death at age 108. Mr. Yuen is recognized internationally to be a Master of Classical Chinese Medicine, Taoism, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Tai Ji Chuan, and Qi Gong. Fields of Specialization: Chinese Medical Classics, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Chinese Medicine, Tai Ji Chuan, Qi Gong, Taoist Philosophy. He has served as a Guest Lecturer at Rockefeller University, City University of New York, San Francisco State University, Vassar College, and is the only non-M.D. acupuncturist on the faculty for the American Association of Acupuncture Physicians. In addition to teaching and directing the Acupuncture Master's Degree program at Swedish Institute of Health Sciences, Mr. Yuen regularly provides Continuing Education lectures for Licensed Acupuncturists in Italy, California, and New York.
